Roofing Warranties — North Coast Roofing

Two layers of protection on every install: manufacturer materials warranty plus our written workmanship warranty.

Every North Coast Roofing installation carries two layers of protection: the manufacturer's material warranty on the shingles, panels, or membrane, and our written workmanship warranty on the install itself.

    Manufacturer Warranties

Shingle warranties typically run 25 to 50 years for materials, with the most extended coverage available through manufacturer-certified installers like us. As a CertainTeed ShingleMaster, we register every CertainTeed install for SureStart Plus coverage — which extends materials AND labor coverage well beyond the basic limited warranty.

Metal roofing manufacturer warranties run 30 to 50+ years on materials, with separate Kynar 500 / PVDF finish warranties of 30+ years for color fade. Single-ply commercial systems carry NDL (no-dollar-limit) warranties of 15 to 30 years.

    Our Workmanship Warranty

Our written workmanship warranty covers defects in installation — leaks, blow-offs, flashing failures — that are caused by how the roof was installed rather than the material itself.

    What's Covered

    • Leaks caused by installation error
    • Blown-off shingles or panels under normal wind loads
    • Flashing failures at penetrations, walls, valleys
    • Defects in the manufacturer materials we installed (per the manufacturer warranty)

    What's Not Covered

    • Damage from third-party trades (solar installers, satellite installers, HVAC techs)
    • Storm damage from named events that exceed normal wind loads
    • Damage from falling trees or debris
    • Wear and tear at end of useful life
    • Modifications made by other contractors after install
    • Lack of basic maintenance (clogged gutters, blocked vents)

    How to File a Claim

    1. Call (707) 232-8622 with your project address and a description of the issue.
    2. We schedule an on-site assessment, usually within a few days.
    3. If the issue falls under workmanship coverage, we repair at no charge.
    4. If the issue falls under manufacturer coverage, we coordinate with the manufacturer and handle the labor portion per warranty terms.
    5. If the issue falls outside coverage (storm damage, third-party damage), we provide a written repair quote.

    Transferability

Most manufacturer warranties transfer once to a subsequent homeowner with proper notification — usually within 30–60 days of sale. Our workmanship warranty transfers within its original term to the new owner. If you're selling, request transfer documentation in writing before close.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register the warranty?

We register every manufacturer warranty on your behalf at install. You receive a copy by email. Keep it with your home documents.

    What voids my warranty?

Walking the roof for non-emergency reasons, third-party trades drilling through it, modifications by other contractors, and lack of basic maintenance.

    Does the warranty cover labor?

Yes — both manufacturer SureStart-tier coverage (where applicable) and our workmanship warranty include labor for covered repairs.

How is a workmanship issue different from a material defect?

Workmanship = how it was installed. Material defect = something wrong with the shingle or panel itself. We handle the diagnosis at no charge.
